King bee, Grafs and sons has 577 snider brass in stock now. Kind of expensive but good brass.(Jamison) $52.99 for 20 rounds. Only place I have found it readymade. survivalist

Nothing wrong with honest wear in my eyes. Putting blue on the finish would be a shame, the rifle is very, very nice as is (You would also reduce its collector value by 50%).

I've decided to leave well enough alone, and not try to blue it.  I've shot it a few times with 58 cal. minie balls and 70 gr. of Goex Fg, and they're all on the paper at 60 yd. I know it'll do...

KingBee I use the mould that you are taking about , its a little hard to get it going , I have never tried it with a hand ladle, my pot is a bottom pour , its also harder to get the mould hot enough...

I tried the roundball loads in the plastic shotgun hulls today.  Accuracy about the same as the minie balls.  About a 10 inch group at 60yd., but this moved left as the barrel fouled.  Swab the bore...

I've not had any holes in my plastic hulls........wonder whats causing that?BTW, with an oversize round ball for your sized brass you can sometimes find, or make, a push through sizerthat will reduce...

If the .600 ball is slightly too small for the fired case you could give the ball a slight squeeze which will put a few thousandths on its diameter.  Before getting a .600 ball mould I used to bump up...
